Pierre Cardin began his career in 1945, working for Jeanne Paquin, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Christian Dior in Paris before launching his own fashion house in 1950. He gained fame for his futuristic designs, launching his first women’s collection in 1953 and a men’s collection in 1957. Ready-to-wear collections followed soon afterwards. By the 1970s, Cardin began expanding his offerings to include fragrances, furniture, interior design, and jewelry. The first fragrance was launched in 1972, and Coty has been the holder of the fragrance license.
